hey folks,
i am planning to apply to grad schools this fall, and i was wondering if you have any recommendations, insights, and overall feedback on which schools to apply for. the ones i'm leaning towards are: university of michigan, university of chicago, columbia and usc. any advice you can share or any other schools you can recommend would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
kate

Re: MSW programs
Tue, September 26, 2006 - 3:58 AMhey kate. new york is a great place to do an msw, incredible placement opportunities, 4 different programs in town to draw radical peers from, lots of resources blah blah.. i dont know much about columbia's program other than its reputation in town as a "generalist" program and that in my working life i haven't come across any columbia grads, im in homelessness and mental health. now that im writing this i imagine theyre good for school social work with teachers college right there. to give you heads up on other programs here in gotham, fordham's catholic :(, hunter/cuny is a good program with clinical, organizing and admin tracks, tough unless youve been living in nyc for a while though, and then my almer mata or whatever, nyu, the top clinical program in town, i got great freud etc and the name works well for me on my resume, but as far as uni culture nyu was a big disappointment, like going to u disney. happy applications, maybe take a look at smiths program, pretty innovative intern opps. -

Re: MSW programs
Fri, December 22, 2006 - 8:40 PMI go to Cal state Hayward. I chose it because it seemed easy to get in to. I was right. My debt will be super-low when I get out. I have never met anyone who liked their MSW program. Just choose one that's in a place you like to live in and that's cheap, just through all the hoops and get your degree. If it sounds like I have a bad attitude I admit I do, sorry. I wish you luck.
